About SunStave Circle

SunStave Circle was birthed at the
Summer Solstice - Litha of 1996.

It was started as an experiment in self-sustaining community ritual.
Sun Stave has no hierarchy, no leaders and no bylaws.
It belongs to the community.
It belongs to you!

SunStave Circle is a completely volunteer effort!

SunStave is named after the staff that is used to pass the
responsibility of creating a sabbat from person to person,
from group to group. Anyone (person or group) can take the staff
and create a ritual, and present their vision to the community.

Here's how it works. You take the staff (yes you!)
You create a ritual, a drama, or a simple ceremony
for the sabbat. You are responsible for letting
people know when and where it will be held,
(not to mention actually getting the site etc...)
You put out flyers, you send email, you tell your friends.
You can do it all on your own, with your friends or
your group, or if you need help you can call upon those
who have listed themselves on this website as volunteers.

If you wish you can decorate the staff with something that
symbolizes how you added your energy to the community.

At the end of your sabbat, you hold the staff and
offer it up to the community for someone else to take.

The staff is passed from hand to hand, from heart to heart.
Sabbat to sabbat, we create the magick that is Sun Stave.

Although Sun Stave is meant to follow the Celtic Sabbats of
Solstices, Equinoxes and Cross-Quarter dates, there is
no set tradition. Sabbats have been held in every tradition -
from Celtic Wicca, Shamanism, Buddhist and Ceremonial
Magick to Eclectic Pagan and No-Tradition At All!

The rules are simple:

The ritual should be held on the actual date of the sabbat.
You have to let people know about it (i.e. put out flyers)
You can do it however and with whomever you like.
You must offer the staff to the community at the
end of your sabbat for the next person to take.

Remember - If you don't take the staff, it won't happen!

The email address below sends email directly to everyone on the SunStave Circle email list. Any questions, comments or cries for help will be read by
all the people on the list, and anyone there can respond to you.
